Local History

The Aurora Public Library maintains a local history collection consisting of a variety of items and clippings.

BOOKS

The Minnesota collection includes a number of titles related to local history, including anniversary publications of area businesses and communities, cookbooks assembled by local organizations, publications of the Iron Range Historical Society, and more.  Most of these titles may be checked out; a few are retained for in-library reference use only.

NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS

Volunteer newspaper readers scan the papers of the Mesabi Tribune and clip out articles about Aurora people, places, events, and obituaries.  These, along with assorted other brochures and articles, are retained for the local history file. They are loosely organized by subject and date.  They may be read in the library, but may not be checked out.  Photocopies are available at a rate of 25 cents/page black-and-white or $1.00/page color.

EAST RANGE FACTS/RANGE FACTS/RANGE TIMES

The Aurora Public Library also retains most issues of the printed editions from 1967-2016 of the East Range Facts/Range Facts/Range Times as part of its local history collection.  They may be read in the library, but may not be checked out.  Photocopies are available at a rate of 25 cents/page black-and-white or $1.00/page color.

YEARBOOKS

The Aurora Public Library owns most of the Aurora school yearbooks from 1953-2004, and a few earlier editions.  They may be read in the library, but may not be checked out.  We would welcome the donation of yearbooks from prior to 1953 or after 2004!  Please talk to library staff if you have a copy you would like to donate.
